Project Background

AMACO/brent was established in 1919 on the belief that great art materials inspire great artists. In 1921, they published their first set of Lesson Plans for distribution to educators across the United States. AMACOClassroom.com continues to provide materials, videos, and Lesson Plans that educators worldwide can utilize to teach ceramics.

Approach

In 2020, there was a significant uptick in website traffic to AMACOClassroom.com. To facilitate user experience, I redesigned and implemented a website refresh. I started with a landing page using Figma and broke the information into Resources and Learning Resources. Resources cover topics such as handling and storing clay, applying glazes and underglazes, and taking care of studio equipment. Learning Resources cover topics such as guided lesson plans for educators and how to safely create a make-shift home studio. Next, each page was reformatted with existing information from the previous website version. After drafting and approving the website flow, I implemented the updates using Wix.

Results

Educators can quickly sort through topics and Lesson Plans they need for their classrooms and studios.
