Project Background
I was asked to redesign an event flyer and program to promote a high school senior music recital. The target audience is broke down into two categories based on where the event details will be posted. First, students and staff will see the flyer at the school. Second, the Instagram post will be seen by close friends, family, and colleagues.
Approach
The first designer chose a script font for details which can be difficult to read at first glance when passing by quickly. I chose to keep some elements of the script font for the event title. I was inspired by patterns associated with piano sheet music - black and white, vertical and horizontal bars, and the color palette of the musician's headshot. I centered the musician with her name at the top and the event title at the bottom. Framing her in an arch allowed for the smaller details to be displayed which acts as an element to lead the eyes from the top of the page to the bottom.
Results
The reorganization of details resulted in high attendance.
